How to generate traffic, get backlinks and increase link popularity for your blog

Posted April 12th, 2009 by automatedblogpostingsoftware

Do you have a website that needs traffic? If your website has any purpose besides personal recollections then it’s a good bet that you would like visitors from outside your circle of family and friends.

These days, many people are looking to make money via the internet. We’ve all heard of people who have ‘made it big’ online. We even see them on current affairs programs. Our usual response to this is either; ‘I want to do that’ or ‘I could NEVER do that’. Of course, if our response is the latter then we NEVER will do it, mainly because we’ll never get off our butt to make the attempt. However, if you are one of the former who WANT to make it online then read on carefully.

Maybe you already have a website or blog, or perhaps you’re just thinking about it. One thing is for sure, if you are going to earn money from it then you need traffic (visitors) to your site. Would you prefer to pay for visitors or get free traffic from search engines? Duh! That’s a no-brainer. Free traffic beats paid traffic hands down.

So how do you get free traffic? Realistically speaking you need to have page one rankings for your website in search engines (since statistically, only about 30% of searchers go beyond page one). So how do you reach that elusive target? The only way to do so is via SEO (search engine optimization). Aaarrrggghhhh… okay, half the people reading this post have now run screaming from the room LOL. But it’s not as daunting as you think. I will address the issue of on-page SEO in other posts on this blog but for now I want to address the MOST important aspect of SEO.

This aspect of SEO is backlinks. Backlinks are defined as links on external websites pointing to your website. They effectively provide a doorway into your website. However, in terms of SEO they have a much more important role. Search engines use these external links as an indicator of how important your website is. The more external links pointing to your website, the more important it is. The more important your site is, the higher you will rank in search results. So how do you generate traffic, get backlinks and increase link popularity?

I recently found the coolest website that helps generate traffic, get backlinks and build link popularity by publishing your link on up to thirty different blogs. These aren’t worthless comment links that provide very little ‘link love’ to your site. I’m talking about links included INSIDE posts. These links are worth much, MUCH more than any link included in comments. WHY? Because it appears as though the blog owner has specifically endorsed your website. Even better, your links don’t appear on unrelated sites because you search for niche related blogs included in the system and select where your articles appear.

Have you heard of Matt Callen’s ‘My article network’? No, I’m NOT pushing you to subscribe to this service. What if I told you that you could receive EXACTLY the same service without paying A PENNY? (Compared to paying $47 per month for Matt Callen’s service). Well, that’s what this site does. I should add that there is a pro version they charge for with extra benefits. But the core service will always be FREE!!!

So how does the system help you know how to generate traffic, get backlinks and increase link popularity?

You provide the service with a niche specific article containing up to two links to your website which you then ‘spin’ using the instructions provided to create unique articles and avoid duplicate content issues. You can write this article yourself or outsource it to writers on digitalpoint forums or elance. You also provide a list of keywords you want to rank for, these will be alternated as anchor text for the links to your site. You enter these details in an online form. Search for related blogs and select up to 30 that you wish the article to appear on and click submit.

This method provides up to 60 backlinks per article (30 blogs with two links each). All of them quality links.

Additionally, bonus links can be earned by promoting the program. For every three articles submitted by referrals one bonus link is received. So if referrals submit one article to 30 blogs then 10 bonus links to your site will be received. Providing blogs for others to post articles to also provides bonus links AND free content. Just imagine having an adsense blog and receiving free updates constantly. And if an article doesn’t suit your blog it can be deleted. Note that all articles are approved by editors before publication to protect participating blogs from spam articles.

This service pushed www.automatedblogpostingsoftware.com from 146 in rankings to around number ten for the keywords ‘automated blog posting software’ and ‘blog posting software’ with just one article on 19 blogs (38 links)… feel free to search google for those keywords to verify this. Note that results will differ slightly based on location. In addition, this site is receiving traffic directly from these links. One blog alone is sending over 60 visitors per month… not bad at all for a 0 pagerank blog

Backlinks are links directing towards your websites. Which are also called as “inbound links”. In SEO techniques it would be best if you have more inbound links than outbound links. “Outbound links” are those links which are directing to other websites from your own site. These are links which you usually put in your link pages or resource pages.

Hey Kim, Thank you for your response and clarification of the definition of backlinks… sometimes when you’ve been at this for a while you tend to forget that not everyone understands the terminology. I might need to edit the actual post a little just to clarify :)

Julie, bonjour and thanks for the information ;)

One of the most reliable ways that I have found of building links is to syndicate my blog with other like minded individuals. If you look at the Google Friend Connect panel on my blog, you will see that I (presently) have 75 “Friends”; of these, 53 are people with whom I syndicate.

Whenever one of us in the group makes a new post, we, as a group, have agreed to give some credibility to that post on one or more of the social media web sites. This either by way of a save, digg, clip, etc., and sometimes a comment on those social web sites.

We only perform these actions provided that the content posted meets our own, individual, sense of quality.

However, all this social activity by our group serves to increase search engine visibility and rankings, which in turn means that our posts receive greater attention by people outside our group (i.e. traffic).

Every time I post, I get more social activity and visibility – more visibility = more traffic = more visibility

As one of my colleagues puts it “We have a Perpetual Internet Traffic Machine”.

Contact me if you’d like to know more about the syndicate.

Wow, what an excellent comment. This is the kind of comment that bloggers like supplying backlinks with :)

It sounds like a really good system I must say… kind of like the social bookmarking club that you’re already a member of :) Just a little different.

Email on it’s way to you!
